I am no wonder woman - like some of the bloggers I have recently become obsessed with - but I try my best in the kitchen. I have recently taken up a hobby in baking.. and really love making cupcakes. I was chatting with a friend recently about these amazing food blogs I've been procrastinating with.. and how it
would be nice to have a real kitchen with real working appliances and... I know it's a lot to ask... a counter to work on. Currently my kitchen has no counter space and only two electrical sockets - one that has the refrigerator connected so really... only one... which makes cuteness rather difficult. Baking in my house means a lot of moving back and forth between the kitchen and the dining room, and lots of balancing and propping on whatever flat surface is available... the stove, the microwave, the fridge top.... so... baking escapades are some what of an adventure.I have two cabinets. In one I have all my dishes and things. In the other I have spices and cookbooks. Which is why I needed to add in some plastic shelving of my own to allow for enough space to put some food in my kitchen. Go figure.
The best part about this kitchen is it was actually a selling point of this apartment! Most kitchen in houses for rent have a sink. That's it. You have to provide your own appliances and your own cabinets. It was a really wild concept when I first started apartment hunting. So when we found this baby that actually had some cabinets... we really pounced on it.
To snap these photos, I stood in the corner of the kitchen with my back against the wall. There is no space hidden from these shots. What you see is what you get. When my 4 year old golden retriever and I stand in the kitchen together, there is no more floor space to move around. Trust me, this truly is cooking without a counter.
